Weekend Inspiration #21 : Model Behaviour

Can you believe just three weeks ago all of us were getting hyped up over the start of a new season? Fast forward about a month later and we're right in the middle of Paris Fashion Week. After hectic shows at New York, London and Milan, the fashion world has now turn its attention and affections onto the City of Lights. And what is fashion week without models?
Models are one of the main reasons why I get uber excited over Fashion Week, apart from the gorgeous clothes of course. They're the ones that make Fashion Week fun, cool and glamorous and a model is all it takes to make or break a runway look. But apart from being photographed on the street or sashaying down the catwalk, (or from their Twitter or Instagram accounts,) we don't really get to see their personalities and their off-duty selves in action very often. Looking to Vogue, I found an entire collection of candid backstage shots that continously made me laugh out loud. This was the first time I have seen so many candids in one place! Expect antics, candids and everything in between from the models as they prep up for the runway show and survive the madness that is Fashion Week. As they say, girls do just want to have fun, including models.

MFW : Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2014

Milan has always been to me a city of heritage and exceptional craftsmanship. I mean, which fashion week does culture and luxury as well as MFW? Amongst all the labels showing at Milan Fashion Week however, Dolce & Gabbana has consistently been the one with the most tocco italiano. Ever since discovering the magic of Dolce & Gabbana during their F/W 2013 season, I have since been in love with their cheerful yet exquisitely-made collections. This season, the Italian duo served up yet another gorgeous collection inspired by their hometown of Sicily. Italy has clearly been an endless source of inspiration for their collections, considering that their past nine seasons were all inspired by it's culture and history. But what set the Spring 2014 collection apart was the very strong Greek theme it had. From white temple-like columns and ancient goddesses, to almond blossoms significant to Greek culture and oversized golden coins, these Greek motifs appeared on almost every part of the looks, from the accessories to the clothes.

burberry's macaron garden

stripes, atmosphere, burberry, fashion, trench, trend, runway, catwalk, finale, petals, london fashion week, fashion week, cara delevingne, chiharu okunugi, christopher bailey, coats, edie campbell, pastels, liu wen, hyde park, jourdan dunn, lace, malaika firth, charlotte wiggins, outerwear, polka dots, heels, couture, cotton, silk, candy, laduree, macaron, garden, english rose, sheer, cashmere
I have to tell you when I saw Burberry's collection, I heaved a huge sigh of relief. Finally a collection that oozed pure Britishness! If it was in any other fashion week, it wouldn't look like it belonged because the all-British vibe was clearly felt through the clothes. And looking back at the rest of the shows at London Fashion Week, this show was hands-down my favourite. Everything about the collection was utter perfection, from the sexy yet tasteful clothes in a multitude of sherbet hues, to the gorgeous Hyde Park venue combined with the wonderful sunny weather, to the simple fact that supermodels Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn walked in it.

london fashion week | mulberry vs. topshop unique

Three days ago, London Fashion Week took the baton from the New Yorkers and this season's British Invasion officially began. From Burberry and Topshop; to Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Rosie Tapner; to Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss; Britain has taken the fashion world by storm with its quirky-cool designers dishing out covetable avant-garde and world-famous supermodels. London Fashion Week is one of the most glamorous fashion weeks out of the Big Four, and its recent big-name shows have been giving style mavens all over the world serious sartorial lust. Two shows, Mulberry and Topshop caught my eye and there were some surprising trends that were prominent in both shows. Scroll down for more!
   1. Cara Delevingne
Cara totally screams "model of the moment". I mean, who doesn't love Cara? At just 20, she's accomplished a lot for a model : think Model of The Year at the 2012 British Fashion Awards, a Victoria's Secret contract and multiple covers for magazines like W, British Vogue, Industrie, i-D and Australian Vogue etc. This season, she walked for 8 shows so far including the above Topshop Unique and opening Mulberry. What's better than a British supermodel walking for an equally British label?
The Verdict : Topshop. Give me bronzed skin, wind-swept beach-perfect hair and smoky eyed beach glamour any day.

marchesa spring 2014 | nyfw

marchesa, fashion week, models, new york fashion week, ss2014, spring 2014, ready to wear, gowns, sheer, appliques, butterfly, 2014, white, gold, fashion updates, fashion, georgina chapman, keren craig, designers, couture, grey, heels
Marchesa's Spring 2014 collection in three words? To-die-for. And even that could be an understatement. Marchesa has always been to me the epitome of feminine and classy and its spot as a constant favourite among editors and style mavens alike just proves how covetable their pieces are. Many of us fantasize about owning about owning a Marchesa creation and would die if we actually did! This season, designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig served up yet again a beautiful collection of effortlessly elegant and sexy gowns. Fairytale and princess-like, the collection featured ethereal, delicate frocks with unique pearl and butterfly appliques, each floating down the runway as gracefully as the last.

elegance à la monique lhuillier

While scrolling through Style.com's increasing list of S/S 2014 shows, I spotted this soft, dreamy white gown and then and there, I felt like I've died and gone to couture heaven. It was all decked out in winter white (which is one of the biggest, or even the biggest trend of S/S 2014 so far) and had subtle lace of just watching the gown float down the runway made me swoon. Not surprisingly, it was made by frequent red-carpet favourite and uber-amazing bridal designer, Monique Lhuillier.

Must Have Bags For The New Season : Lucinda of Farfetch.com

I wouldn’t consider myself a big spender, like most girls I do appreciate fashion, I can see beauty in a delicately hand-stitched dress or an amazing leather jacket but when it comes to parting with my hard earned pennies there’s something inside that stops me. I would say that I spend around 75% of my spare time browsing clothes online and putting together my dream wardrobe. It seems that this time of year is harder as well, with all of the amazing new season offerings landing on the high street; there’s something about autumn/winter that really inspires the big spender in me.

It might be something to do with the amazing coats or luxurious winter ankle boots that make me lust after them without fail year after year. Once in a while, if I’ve been extra good or I feel like I deserve a little gift for all my hard work I will make an ‘investment purchase’. I’ll spend an extraordinary amount on something that I plan to love and use until the end of days, most of the time these little splurges are on bags. So as the summer fades out into a, hopefully, spectacular fall I start thinking ahead to which bag will have the honour of sitting in the crook of my arm this season. So if you’re like me and you love bags, if you feel like you deserve something new, if your old bag is beyond repair or if you just want to splash the cash then you’ll be in need of this definitive guide to must have bags for the new season, which one will you choose?
